How do I wash silk w / out dry cleaning?

neck silk, but the rest of my rayon top, so I do not think it worth Cleanup Cleaning ... My mother told me that sometimes works hand washing silk, but other times, the material ruin ... Anybody know how?

put inside a pillowcase and tie the top closed. washed in the washer on gentle cycle with mild detergent. I do it all the time. It is advisable to hang dry instead of putting it in the dryer.
